4K Patch Xbox One: How to Access and Customize Your Accessibility Settings

The time it takes to download game updates, app updates, games from the Xbox Store and so on can sometimes be a burden. The latest Xbox One update is set to change that, as users with an internet connection 100Mbps or faster should be able to download content up to 80 per cent faster than before.

Of course, Microsoft does say actual real world figures will vary based on your home network and at ISP level, and downloads taking place in the background while you're playing a game will also be a bit slower as the Xbox prioritises gameplay.

How to download 4k patch xbox one

Three months shy of its second birthday, Electronic Arts surprised gamers with news of an Xbox One X enhanced upgrade for Battlefield 1 earlier this week, the full 5.8GB patch arriving the following day. Patch notes from the developer only mention support for "full 4K resolution" - an upgrade that is by and large delivered, though there is a sting in the tail: at the time of writing, the game's signature multiplayer mode isn't working quite the way it should be.

Stacking up the console BF1 experience against the fully enabled PC game, it's clear that there's much that could be added: improved textures, more detailed terrain rendering and more GPU-accelerated particles just for starters. As things stand, however, the X patch delivers a resolution bump and little more. And so, by extension, X's visual feature set is a match for the PlayStation 4 Pro upgrade. In common with Pro, DICE employs dynamic resolution scaling, ramping up to the full 4K promised by the patch notes but also dropping from the target under load, where resolution can dip to 3456x1944 in more intense scenes (a 90 per cent resolution scaling on both axis) while one measurement saw the scaler drop further to 3360x1890 - the lowest resolution we saw during a 64-player conquest mode skirmish. Temporal anti-aliasing softens the scene anyway, making resolution transitions virtually impossible to notice, and the overall presentation impresses on a 4K screen throughout.

What of performance? There are frame-rate improvements elsewhere in the package - notably the campaign mode - though this is marred somewhat by what looks like a severe bug that's been introduced in the new patch. The good news is that the resolution bump doesn't impact performance - we're still looking mostly at a locked 60 frames per second throughout the campaign with only occasional drops to the mid-50s. Multiplayer - particularly in the CPU-taxing 64-player maps - also shows a big advantage for X users, with anything up to a 13fps improvement in matching scenes. Accurately measuring performance in multiplayer is difficult, and we did it by running Xbox One X and S consoles simultaneously in the same server with players in the same squad trailing each other. Side-by-side, the enhanced console's advantage is undeniable - that's a great turnout for X owners, where it does mean more visual feedback, lower latency and smoother gameplay. It's a clear gameplay advantage that X users will enjoy over owners of the standard Xbox.

From every other angle though, the Xbox One X patch matches expectations with its gorgeous 4K rendering, even if enhancements beyond resolution are scarce. With that said, for anyone wanting to see the sharpest results from a console, this is the best way to play Battlefield 1 and it'll be fascinating to see how much of the implementation here makes its way into this year's sequel. Fingers are crossed that the game will gets its console debut soon - possibly at this year's Gamescom?

This is a list of Xbox One X enhanced games. These games are Xbox One and backwards compatible Xbox 360 and Xbox games that are enhanced by console-specific updates/patches when played on an Xbox One X.

Xbox One games without an Xbox One X update/patch, including Xbox 360 and Xbox backwards compatible titles, can also take advantage of the Xbox One X's hardware. These improvements can include the following:

So what do you think? Are you excited for any of the new additions in Rocket League's December Update? What would you like to see added in the next patch? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

A new DOOM 4K update has been rolled out by id Software this week for both the Xbox One X and PlayStation 4, finally adding 4K resolutions to the DOOM game on the most powerful gaming consoles currently available. The announcement was made via the official Bethesda blog with the publisher confirming the launch of the highly anticipated DOOM 4K patch.

For Xbox One X owners, 4K support means full 4K resolution with added HDR support, so your grim and gritty war to end all wars is, in fact, full of pretty colors and death. To enable it, you must download the update from Xbox Live.

The new $499 Xbox One X is capable of running specific Xbox One games in native 4K resolution, but in order to do so, gamers must first download the required 4K texture packs and updates. Seeing as these textures are quite huge and can wreak havoc on monthly data caps, Microsoft is allowing existing Xbox One owners to pre-download 4K texture updates so they don't spend the whole Xbox One X launch day downloading content. Not every game on the list of 100+ Xbox One X enhanced games will have 4K texture packs available for pre-download, however, and Microsoft hasn't stipulated an exact list.

The company has come up with three different strategies to make the Xbox One to Xbox One X upgrade transition as seamless as possible including: backing up existing Xbox One settings to an external storage device; pre-downloading 4K texture updates and enhancement patches for specific games; allowing users to transfer games and content from one console to the Xbox One X over a home network. Users who already have their games on an external hard drive can simply plug the HDD into the Xbox One X and access their games library. Of course if the Xbox One X is the first Xbox you own, you'll have to download all the updates like normal.

Ahead of the launch of the Xbox One X next week, various games that will receive enhancements for the premium console have begun to receive new patches over the last few days. One of those titles is Remedy Entertainment's 2016 title Quantum Break which now comes in in at an insanely high download size.

With the new Xbox One X patch included, the base size for Quantum Break has ballooned to a staggering 102.5GB. When including the size of the optional TV show portion of the game, which comes in at 75.6GB, the total becomes 178.1GB.

Of course, the TV show portion of Quantum Break doesn't need to be downloaded natively on the console and can instead be streamed in-game. Still, we aren't used to seeing file sizes of this magnitude, though that might change as the industry continues to trend more towards 4K gaming.

To download the Gears of War 4 Xbox One X Enhanced content, just head to System -> Download 4K Game Content. Once the update releases on November 7, Xbox One X users will be manually download the content for easy transfer via external HDD or local network.

Beyond these changes, Microsoft has made a number of changes for all Xbox One consoles. These include a faster dashboard with extra shortcuts, a personalizable home screen that allows up to 40 pinned shortcuts, an enhanced notification system, and the ability to capture game clips and screenshots at 4K resolution with high dynamic range. The update is free and available for download via the console.

The strategy is familiar, at least. As with CD Projekt Red's The Witcher 3 patch, it's an effort to sustain interest in an old game while work continues on a long-awaited sequel. No, this likely won't spur sales, but it might keep Fallout 4 in players' minds (and to a degree, Fallout 76) until there's a new release. If nothing else, it's another way to mark the series' 25th anniversary.

At the end of the week, the action-adventure Shadow of the Tomb Raider developed by Eidos Montreal was given a new patch. This was launched under the version designation 2.01 and brings support for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with corresponding technical improvements.

When the HDHomeRun Setup application is open, it will look for all HDHomeRun hardware on the network and attempt to update them using the firmware available at the time the installer was downloaded. When new firmware is available, just download and reinstall the Windows installer to update those files.

The DVR tab in the HDHomeRun Setup application also contains the NAS install tool, for installing the DVR software to a NAS from the PC. In that set up the PC is only needed for the installation, and can be turned off afterwards, as the NAS will handle everything else. Updating your NAS's HDHomeRun DVR software is done the same way as on the PC: simply download the new version of the Windows installer, install it, then re-run the NAS install tool on top of the existing version. No uninstallation of the old version is necessary.

When the Mac installer is ran, it will attempt to locate all HDHomeRun hardware on the network and update them using the firmware available at the time the installer was downloaded. When new firmware is available, just download and reinstall the Mac installer to update those files.

The installer will give the user a choice to install the HDHomeRun viewing application, the DVR software, or both. DVR software should not be installed on a computer that is connected wirelessly or turns on or off frequently. Updating the DVR software can be done by simply downloading the new Mac installer and installing it on top of the existing version. No uninstallation of the old version is necessary.

The install size for Fallout 4 on Xbox One X has been revealed coming in at a large size with the enhanced option being available starting November 29, 2017 and now taking up a total of 51.99 GB on the Xbox Marketplace. The Xbox One Base size is noted at 47.21 GB at the current moment as just the core title. Neither of these sizes include any of the DLC content which adds an additional few more GB, they also don't include any mods which can be grabbed in-game. It looks like both versions are close to the same size at this current point with the patch being a small jump. It could be that new dynamic content download was at play on the console to keep sizes down. The install size was grabbed from the console with the game having been given a decently large update and it now showing up under "Xbox One X Enhanced Games" tab. 4k assets for games are automatically available to those on the Xbox One X. This install size will most likely be the final quantity unless there are minor tweak updates as I can't imagine there being anything new added. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle []).push();Fallout 4 is Bethesda's long awaited sequel bringing players back to a vast wasteland plagued by the destruction of the world. Venture through the Commonwealth with your chosen companion, find your son and explore a large world of conflict. With the enhancements players will be given 4k resolution though no HDR support which is disappointing, but God Rays are present with the update which is nice. These do definitely make the light rays far more present within your day adventures. The resolution is labeled as dynamic so it might be close to native at times, but still a big difference in quality and general performance regardless. There's a large draw distance enhancement present for trees, grass, objects and NPCs. That's all, but it's certainly a nice update despite the age of the game and it's good enough to keep the game shining for quite awhile.
